Jen's Story and it's a good one!

You’d love Jen Martin.  I do.

Another great real estate agent – not a lot of years behind her in the business but enough to have a client base that she could show her appreciation to and this year she did – and when it all goes wrong -it still went right!

She opted for an outdoor event in a public park with jumping castles, face painting, cotton candy, dunk tanks, catered food – the whole works and the whole nine yards!   And while it was about showing her clients how much she appreciated their support of her business – it also became about raising funds – almost in the eleventh hour- for a young fellow realtor who had just received a staggering diagnosis in regards to her very young son and it immediately became an event where gifts/donations could be given to help with the expenses which would need to be managed to carry her through a very difficult time.

Even the best of intentions aren’t enough to circumvent disasters and  from all discussions afterwards – if it could have gone wrong – it did in all ways.

Can you imagine your husband/partner/spouse/friend running back and forth from a public drinking fountain across the park and back to a dunk tank – carrying- no… make that sloshing… water in a little bucket in an effort to fill a dunk tank before the guests arrive- and doing it without fanfare or misery- and without being told to – because it needed to happen!  That’s character in action!

Can you picture the face of a four year old as he grins at a gathered assembly and at his mother -who for a number of reasons is now herself in the dunk tank – and who is about to be dunked at the hand of her son – and spectacularly and with all the accompanying drama and screams!  That is a kodak moment as they used to say – once upon a time.  A moment son and mother can treasure.

Kudos for all the behind the scene scramble that occurred  before the event when the helpers became aware that everything was all messed up, not working,  or missing and creatively took care to ensure this day for Jen and her guests,  despite all the hitches,  came off well – helping each other, supporting each other, laughing with each other,  showing huge caring, sharing and consideration for each other because one realtor – Jen- got this idea – to say “Thank You” and “We can Help You” and “Together we can do it” and a thousand other like messages delivered in a hundred pro-active ways with her rallying cry!

Her fund raising efforts – as they often do – fell somewhat short of her hearts desired goals for her fellow realtor but she is a shining star regardless. She stepped up to the plate and hit a home run by all standards and her heart blows me away.  ( If you would be interested in adding to the fund -please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will put you in touch.  She would love to hear from you!)

Another Gold Star Please!  Jen Martin it’s a privilege to be on your team and part of your support system – and an honor!
