New year – new business plan but before that is tackled I’m thinking some questions need to be asked about growth or change.
Do you want to grow or do you want to change? Let me take a minute to suggest what the difference might be.
Growth is like a journey: slow, steady progress toward a destination. It’s about increasing the strengths of who I already am, and improving who I already am. Getting a bit better at what I already do well. Growth is about health and happiness and someday and steady. Growth is about reformation.
Change on the other hand is about transformation. Change is about do-it-yourself surgery. It’s more radical than growth. Change requires the elimination of some character traits. It may be about stopping some patterns of behaviour that damage my life and may bring damage to those around me.. and that change needs to happen right now. It’s about what’s going on in the inside. Am I always being defeated by the same habit? I always seem to be feeling the pain of falling flat on my face…again!..even though I vowed to myself I’d never do “it” again. If that’s your thinking then your plan for 2010 needs to incorporate more than three more face to faces with past clients – you may need to embrace some personal face to inner face time.
In light of that framework what do you need to bring into 2010 – to be your best self and have your best life?
Is it growth or is it change?
That’s the first million dollar question.
And the million dollar answer is…
